George Rogers, riding a horse that fell on icy ground near the post office, was dragged for a block before the animal was stopped. He was taken to a physician where the bone was set, then walked home. the right arm broke again, risking serious complications.
Rogers from the post office was delivering mail when the horse slipped on ice. He struggled with the saddled animal and became entangled in the stirrups as the horse dragged him down the street. He was aided by a physician, then returned home with a broken arm.
A dance, a sale, and a Kansas trip mark the departure of the Price family from the Todd ranch in Hazelton district. The farewell dance honored the Prices as they head to live with Mrs. Price’s parents in Kansas. The sale the next day drew good attendance as friends bid farewell.
The Electrics defeated the Brunswicks in a tight Brunswick alleys contest, overcoming a 32 pin deficit after two games to win by 121 pins. Every man exceeded 500 series with Carter noted for high average and a 251 high single. Brunswicks also posted a high 1082 as the teams set up a rematch next week.
Senior Henry Kyle suffered a broken nose and other injuries during a campus clash as juniors interrupted the seniors burlesque gift presentation for the faculty. Several seniors were minorly hurt and Asa Chesnut wearing a Santa Claus costume lost parts of his outfit as Dr Snyr intervened to postpone further plans.
Mrs Jennie Geiger Smith, convicted of fatally shooting Wally Mann, asks Greeley residents to aid in her husband Lafayette Dale's release so he can try to secure her freedom. Both were sentenced to long terms for the crime in Nebraska last year, while her husband Fred Geiger works near Eaton.
State University travels to Greeley for a fast midseason matchup against the Arrows in front of a large crowd. Kensington club members held a Christmas party at Mrs. Charles Farr’s home on Wednesday. Each guest had exchanged gifts under a tree with a three cent limit and a grab bag provided for every lady. fifteen members attended and enjoyed the affair.
Patsy Brannigan, reputedly run out of several Weld County towns, was taken into custody in Greeley last night after being found by Marshal Williams and his men. He was fined 75 dollars and costs in police court and, failing to pay, remanded to jail for resisting arrest in addition to drunkenness.
Members of the lodge held an unusually enjoyable meeting Thursday evening. Two new candidates were initiated and Grand Exalted Ruler Boyd of Idaho Springs attended as a visitor.
Managua reports Jose Santos Zelaya has quit the presidency placing his resignation with Congress amid revolutionary pressure and U S naval presence. Dr Jose Madriz travels to Managua to stake a claim while General Estrada’s influence shapes the looming presidential decision with U S officials unnamed.
Miss Regina Piedalue a Normal student was hospitalized after a small scratch developed into blood poisoning. A pimples eruption on her hand months earlier led to the serious condition, and she remains under doctor supervision with improving condition.
The Elks secure fifty more feet on Ninth Street between Ainto and Tenth avenues, buying west of the Camfield property for 10 000 dollars to join the seventy five feet already owned, completing their planned plot after Camfield transfers to the Unitarian society last week.
Denver officials of the Denver Laramie Northwestern railroad will meet soon to decide action after Union Pacific files its response. They believe the UP right of way may affect a 200 foot strip on both sides of track, centered near Thirteenth Street, where roads were forced to crowd UP earlier. The Burlington meeting in Denver yielded only a secretive report on the 200 foot claim.
Special to the Daily Tribune LaSalle December 17 Austrian laborer Alvino Pruiz working with the section gang here severed one finger and mashed his left hand late Thursday night. He was laying a rail when a bar of iron slipped from the sno rt catching his hand. The injured hand was dressed immediately and it is thought a second badly crushed finger may not require amputation.
Citizens petition city authorities to exterminate sparrows said to be killing song birds by the hundreds. marshal Williams may consider the issue and municipal action is anticipated to follow.
The stormont elders visiting the faithful have secured the M B A hall at Seventh Street and Ninth Avenue for weekly services. Beginning this Sunday at 2 30 pm Elder George H Watts will lead. A cordial invitation is extended to the public to attend each meeting.
Members of the LaGrange Country Club gathered at Mrs. J. H. Robinsons home to exchange unaddressed Christmas gifts ten days before Santa Claus. Mrs. Charles Monfort and Miss Eva Ford were appointed to manage the packages. A Christmas program was presented and paintings of Christ along with Christmas history were discussed. The next meeting will be at Mrs. J. M. Wadlin s for a Ne w Engeland supper.
Henry M. Thomas, famed patent button innovator and prominent advertiser, is in Greeley and has recently purchased a small tract of land near Eaton. He plans to view the property during his trip from Newark and shares views on Colorado sections.
Independent wealth holder Mr. Thomas notes he has made twenty four trips around the globe. He cites his English factories and a Chicago plant with a Denver small shop. He praises Weld county Colorado and plans to buy a summer home in Estes Park. He toured the western slope Routt county and Wille speaks highly of local agriculture, stock and mines.
Valentine Baker, a Cheyenne broker, filed suit in Denver federal court seeking 32750 dollars claiming he secured buyers for Laramie Poudre Reservoir and Irrigation Company stock. He says he introduced William Nliff and James Thorpe to president Watson Ziegler and that a secret deal followed keeping him ignorant of the transactions. He seeks the commissions he alleges are due.
John Leavitt and Amelia J. Alaw, both of Denver, wed Wednesday at the bride’s brother and sister’s home 303 Putetecales avenue. Rev. R. J. Hunter of the First Presbyterian church officiated in a small gathering. The couple will tour Colorado and likely settle in Greeley.
Tomorrow afternoon the argument will be made on the motion for a new trial in the murder case of Fred Peil. The jury recently found Peil guilty of first degree murder. supporters seek a retrial, believing significant evidence was not presented at the first trial. Judge Gornance will hear the motion and it is expected to be vigorously contested.
