Greeley public school children sell Red Cross Christmas seals to combat tuberculosis. Prizes include a 5600 stationary vacuum, a 400 piano, and sanitary drinking fountains, awarded per capita. Campaign runs December 6 to 21 with school, club, church involvement urged.
Weavers, Dec 8. Wholesale price holds at 50 cents per dozen with long-standing city retail at 50 cents. Dealers anticipate possible rise to 55 cents if scarce eggs and heavy demand persist, though no corner is confirmed. Wholesale brokers expect prices to stay firm for the week.
Gus Albrecht confessed at Fort Collins to an attempt to wreck a Colorado and Southern train after being discharged from a rail gang at a small station near Trilby. He had left the work camp following his dismissal.
In Loveland a man threatened an unknown foreman at a brick yard promising revenge. South of Trilby a cut obstructed a rail line with a dragged telephone pole, damaging a cowcatcher but not derailing the train. Albrecht, 52, arrested in Loveland, waived preliminary exam and awaits district court on $1,000 bond. authorities deem him mentally unbalanced. formerly stayed in Milwaukee.
Mrs B Kirchgestner and Mrs Cass from Eaton and Greeley enjoyed a mountain trip. They toured Denver by auto then visited Golden before returning to Greeley Thursday evening. Mrs Cass plans to leave Eaton for the east in two weeks.
Box ball will be offered to Greeley residents starting tomorrow night. Alleys for playing this popular game have been fitted up by Massacre brothers at 912 Eighth avenue. The activity is expected to be as popular locally as it has been elsewhere.
Speaker Champ Clark told members of the House that the country demands achievement not pretense and that the Democratic agenda must proceed without delay. He warned against dilly-dallying or shifting blame and urged action to advance promised reforms.
Miss Cora Milne a young school teacher is whipped by Mrs. A Rockwell mother of a pupil after the boy Theodore Rockwell 14 caused trouble at Empire Colorado four miles from Georgetown The incident led to Mrs Rockwell being arrested on assault and battery bonds set for county court next Saturday Milne sustained cuts and bruises and Miss Milne has sworn out information against Rockwell The case has polarized Empire with rival factions and planned witnesses and spectators The teacher is a graduate of the State Teachers College at Greeley.
The Colorado & Southern railroad will run a demonstration train from Denver to Eastonville on December 12 to teach dry farming methods. Professor Hinman of Fort Collins State Agricultural College will give illustrated lectures on soil, irrigation, pumping costs, wind power, poultry, buildings, feeds, marketing, crops, dairying, and live stock. The Burlington and Union Pacific will carry the train across northern Colorado, with ten day runs and stops in key towns, turning over to Burlington December 18 and to Union Pacific December 18 to 22.
While Mrs. Archie W Brownell was in Indiana tending her father's death and estate, six year old Ruth Eleanor Brownell died at the Mitchell Nebraska home where she stayed with her father and grandmother. The child was bright and affectionate, and her loss will be deeply felt by family.
Federal grand jury tests McManigal testimony as likely basis for the nationwide dynamiting inquiry. McNamara brothers, already sentenced to life and 15 years, may remain uncalled as evidence is turned over to federal investigators. McManigal alleges others funded the 20 dynamite acts since 1907, but felon testimony is deemed unlikely to impact indictments. Authorities expect his cooperation may lead to broader charges while the state awaits federal moves.

S B Wright, long-time Greeley potato representative, returns home early due to a quiet market. He winters in Texas area handling Greeley potatoes, with the crop moved early this year. He notes Minnesota’s good yield helps supply the southern market, softening the shortage.
Miss Hilma Benson and John H. Anderson wed Thanksgiving Day at the Sorenson home in Haxtum. The bride, a State Teachers College graduate and former German teacher, now teaches in Haxtum High School. The groom is a prominent local farmer. Mrs. J W Anderson and three Greeley children attended and planned a two week visit.
Mrs Gordon Danforth entertained the young ladies employed at Condons store at her home Thursday evening maintaining social ties and hospitality in a small local gathering.
