A Denver and Southern Colorado capitalist group filed papers late yesterday for an ore claim eight miles south of Roggen on the Burlington. Alfred Patek says the section 62, township 1 north contains rich limonite ore with about 46 percent iron.
W D Salter and H D Morehouse along with Col Frank Williams Alfred Patek John Irby and H A Pettitts of Colorado Springs organize a company to develop a claim. Patek stated work would start immediately as iron ore mining begins in the county, with expectations of locating other rich deposits once capital and investigation proceed.
Coroner T. G. Macy investigated the circumstances of Alex Jastrowitz’s death at his grandmother Mrs. W. Hall’s home on 920 Tenth Street Wednesday. The coroner found no basis for further inquiry and said the deceased received all possible care before passing. Funeral arrangements have not been set.
Attorney Joseph C. Ewing has drawn up papers of incorporation for the Phoenix Bakery company with a capital stock of 16000. Incorporators are C. W. Martin, B. F. Martin and Thomas Welsh. Increased business is cited as the reason for incorporation.
The Helen May Butler band arrived for an afternoon program weary from travel and three members were overcome by altitude and taken to the rear tent. Dr. Sell and Dr. Parsons spoke on progress and history with statistics. An evening concert followed with Dr. Mac Queen on Africa and Opie Read scheduled to lecture.
Weather bureau figures show Weld county Jul rainfall at two and a half times the thirty eight year average while temperatures ran one degree above the long term mean. The high reached 5 on the 18th and the low 56 on the 28th with no heat prostrations reported. Beneficial rain aided dry farmers in the Weld district.
A Colorado Interstate Fair notice from Denver on August 5 promotes Made in Colorado and Boost for Colorado branding at the Overland Park fair in September. Secretary G. C. Puller aims to assemble broad Colorado product exhibits with $25,000 in cash awards and extensive premium structures, with free catalogs from the Tabor Opera House block address.
Mr and Mrs C B Clark and their son Lawrence along with Mrs F P Matthews will come back this evening from Rockhurst on the Poudre where they have spent three weeks at the Clark cottage.
Manager Roy Collins says signings Hudson from Fort Lupton and Padfield at first base bolster Greeley for Sunday afternoon clash with the Denver White Sox at the local park. The White Sox also add new players as the Grays seek revenge after a prior White Sox win.
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Brown and their three children and Mrs. B. Preston of Jetmore Kansas arrived Wednesday for a visit with Mrs. Sarah Mawhinney and daughter Bertha and Mr. and Mrs. Charlies Mawhinney. Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Preston are Mrs. Mawhinney's daughters.
City council moves to grant Burlington and Denver Laramie franchises simultaneously into Greeley to avoid endless litigation. Ordinances lay out 100 foot rights of way paralleling Union Pacific with parallel crossings, require construction within eighteen months, and mandate upkeep of streets and sidewalks along the routes.
Plans for a new normal training school in Greeley near the existing library are nearing completion. Architects will soon invite bids after floor plans for about ninety rooms across three floors and a basement, including indoor and outdoor gymnasia, laboratories, and craft spaces.

Redpath chautauqua managers sought a conference with local supporters to arrange for next year. A dozen citizens met, refusing to sign a contract, and recommended forming a stock company by October 20 or appointing a five member city board to oversee future chautauqua operations.

Lois C Neff and Roy Peterson, both 16, married Wednesday in Eaton by Rev Emanuel Payne of the Baptist church with parental consent. Peterson works on Bruce Eaton's ranch "The Heights." The newlyweds will live at The Heights.
John S. Heighton of Greeley and Miss Ruby Lee of Edgewater plan to marry this evening at Heightons residence in Greeley. The ceremony gathers local families and neighbors for a private home wedding.
D E Markham of Burlington said eastern Colorado dry farming will yield twenty five to thirty bushels per acre this year with 250 000 to 260 000 acres newly under cultivation. Unseasonable rainfall has boosted fall and spring wheat oats and barley and farmers are enthused before the dry farming congress in Billings Montana comes in October.
Donald McCreery came back this week after spending seven days visiting Denver and Grand Junction. He reported no incidents and described the trip as productive with meetings in both cities.
