E. Barney of Grand Junction praises farming lands near Ault and may sell part of his holdings to invest there. Barneys a major fruit grower and inventor of a fire pot used in Mesa county orchards. He and his wife visit the W. E. Quayle ranch in the Ault area.
City council held a brisk fifteen minute session with no definite actions. Finance reports show a balance of £12026.10 after bills. The city marshal noted 23 arrests in July with nine prisoners serving time. A request from the Greenley Electric Railway asked the city to share red light maintenance costs on Seventh Avenue. Sugar company protests a proposed east side sewer route due to potential sewage backup at their factory. An alternative route was referred to the streets and sewers committee. The judiciary committee is reviewing the proposition. Current city water contains no living organisms.
Mrs. George Elliott formerly of Sioux City was shot and killed by jealous admirer Thomas Halstead in Denver. Halstead then shot himself. both died shortly after in hospital. Elliott had posed as Mrs Ray C Watson, provoking local scandal. Watson's father denies any basis for the impersonation.
After a long session the council prepared to act on proposed franchise ordinances for the Burlington and Denver Laramie railroads. City Attorney Joseph Cowing added safeguards for viaducts parking and civic improvements as citizens debated feasibility and potential damage to nearby residences. The session began with minor items then moved to a four and a half hour committee of the whole while the executive session extended to 1 16 a m with promises of disclosure only at tonight's meeting.

The Holdens, from Council Bluffs, traveled to the cemetery with Coroner Macy where the body, buried Saturday, was exhumed and confirmed. He leaves a separated wife. his father resides in Council Bluffs. The sister believes a prior head injury contributed to the insanity leading to the act.
The Greeley Tribune shifts to monthly 30 cent bills for city subscribers starting today. A yearly advance option at 3.00 saves 60 cents. Country subscribers remain billed yearly by mail at 3.00.
A sudden sugar beet worm outbreak cripples fields across the Greeley Ault area. Reports show 40 to 80 acre losses on several ranches as farmers fight the pest with Paris green with little success. The worm, about an inch long at maturity, feeds from underside to top leaves and strikes crowns, endangering entire plants.
Provo authorities report a six foot tall blue dressed woman named Sadie disappeared about a week ago.
