Rhubarb Snow Cream Pudding and Custard Dish

A vintage recipe combines rhubarb snow cream pudding and custard. Gelatine is soaked then dissolved with sugar and lemon juice, folded with stiff egg whites, and chilled to set. Cook rhubarb with sugar without added water, then make vanilla custard to serve atop the rhubarb and pudding.

Oak Hill Aid Meets at Church for Mothers Day Program

Oak Hill Aid gathered at the church on Wednesday with about 35 attendees. Devotions were led by Letha Posten, followed by a Mothers Day program hosted by Lou Cree and Jessie Fuelberth. Tributes honored a new baby girl stillborn to Mr. and Mrs. Francis Sexton. Mildred Barker wrapped up a Holt Independent School term with a district picnic and award.

Born 1891 on a Muscatine County farm, Iowa, he studied at the University of Iowa, practiced law in Atlantic since 1919, served as Cass County Attorney for three terms, and was in World War I. Taylor County Welfare Office lists 194 men and 0 women on WPA projects, plus a few non relief foremen and supervisors. Peak WPA figures were 287 men and 17 women in Oct 1936, with drought relief earlier. Certifications require relief eligibility. unemployment alone does not qualify. WPA allows short departures for private work and immediate reassignment on return. long absences trigger stop cards. Farmers needing labor should coordinate with the welfare office if WPA workers refuse standard wages.

The Netoppen camp fire girls met with Miss Helen Smith their two year guide and gifted her a remembrance. A handkerchief shower honored vice president Doris Savage who departs for California. Treasury funds were shared among members. Wanda Joslyn earned a camp fire ring for the wood gathers rank. They visited Twin Bridges for an outdoor meal with tepee fires and cooking ham eggs and beef.

District meeting invites to nightly sermons by Rev Campbell

Free Methodist Church invites all to attend a district meeting with Rev R B Campbell preaching each evening at 8 from Thursday through Sunday. He speaks Friday at 9 and 2 30 and Saturday at 2 30, with a district minister in charge. Quarterly conference begins Saturday at 9, Sunday school earlier, Love Feast, preaching at 11 and missionary service at 3.
