The North Gravity residence of the late H. N. Ray hosted a Saturday afternoon sale of household items. Executor H. E. Nevin, and Mrs. Carl Stephens of Ringgold county, a Ray relative, agreed the items belonged to Stephens per a predeceased will. Horace Beemer family to move in once vacated, likely within the week.

Ross Township man mulls county clerk bid in Gravity visit

Leslie Cobb of Ross township examined a possible run for county clerk during a Gravity visit Friday afternoon. A former county treasurer candidate fourteen years ago, Cobb has long backed the Republican ticket and now weighs entering the primary with plans to announce soon and join the campaign effort.

Obituary for J. W. Ledgerwood in Gravity

J W Ledgerwood died at his daughter’s home in Gravity on April 16 1938 after long illness, aged 90. He was born January 10 1848 in Sullivan County Indiana, married Cynthia Ann Ambaugh September 25 1867, and survived by five children, eleven grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren. Funeral at Church of Christ Gravity, April 19, burial Gravity Cemetery. He was a charter member, deacon and elder, long Sunday school superintendent, and worked in Chandler lumber yard before running a family business with his son Charley. His wife predeceased him by months, they celebrated sixty fifth wedding anniversary shortly before. He is remembered as devoted husband and loving father, a longtime Gravity settler and pillar of the church.
