Hottest July On Record Across Regions
July broke heat records across the United States especially in the middle west and southwest with 19 days at 190F or higher. The heat and winds ruined corn prospects, water shortages spread, and livestock feed diminished daily. Alfala hay rose to 25 dollars a ton as drought worsened pastures and farmers faced selling thousands of livestock at low quality. The southwest state faces its most serious drought in years.
