Commercial Club Discusses Local Market and Rail Service

The Commercial Club held its final meeting of the month with fair attendance. Members considered farming interests and a local market plan to aid farmers before fall. A suggestion to improve Milwaukee train service led to a plan for daily trains and thrice weekly freight. A cemetery site, rural mail route from Grass Range, and related steps were also discussed, with committees formed to pursue each item.

Railroad Bill Passes Congress in Historic Vote

The Esch Cummins railroad bill was approved by the House after four hours of debate by a 240 to 150 vote. The conference report now goes to the President after the Senate backed it 47 to 17 on February 23.
