Beloved Bertha Brown Dies After Illness
Bertha Southworth Brown, born May 10 1887, died May 11 1915 after tuberculosis begun as a cold. She married William A Brown in 1907 and lived in Traverse City with their son Dean Leslie. Funeral services were held at her parents home with burial at Maple Hill Charlotte.

Obituary of George Payn a Traverse City figure 1842 long resident
George Payn died May 14 after a long illness. Born in Pictou Ontario in 1842 to American parents, he moved to Traverse City with his wife and daughter and became a cornerstone of local business. A trusted land and timber expert, he served the First Baptist church in many roles and aided the poor. Funeral set for Sunday afternoon at his Washington Street residence.
