Electric Storm Hits Boonville Home During Midnight

A lightning strike struck the Boonville residence of D F E Wright at midnight. The telephones in the bedroom were destroyed, the instrument torn apart and hurled across the room into the dining area. A chair with clothing nearby was hurled along the same path.

Railroad farmers institute to be held in city on Monday

A railroad farmers institute under the state board of agriculture will open Monday at 8 o clock in the morning and continue one hour. The event will be on a special GR and L train with two baggage cars for exhibits and demonstrations and two passenger coaches for lectures. Topics include breeding and feeding cows and poultry care led by Prof. J A Jetfrex and Prof. C D Smith.

Ordination Postponed For Rev E Lockhart

The ordination of the Rev. E. Lockhart of the Baptist church scheduled for Friday was postponed after a message from Dr. Stetson of Kalamazoo College said he could not attend due to illness. The ceremony will be held Friday April 5 with 25 to 30 delegates expected and an afternoon doctrinal exam.

Zelma Chase Seeks Continued Eye Treatment at Ann Arbor

Little Zelma Chase may stay in Ann Arbor until her eyes are cured. The Friends of the Child funded expenses with a land gift and Henry Dalzell deposited 381 dollars at the State Bank for her care, with more pledged. Trav erse City neighbors contributed as well, and Poor Superintendent Marvin helped arrange the transport. Her condition is hereditary, requiring ongoing treatment until she is 16, with care planned at intervals.

Storm Strikes Farm. One Horse Killed

Williamsboro Michigan March 26 Severe electrical storm brought damage none to village. On Ben Peters farm north of town a horn structure was struck by lightning tearing out the end. One horse was killed instantly and another was deafened to the point of being practically wireless. Peters resides on Charles Beebe’s old farm.

Narrow Escape for Boy as Horse Bolts on Boardman Ave

Royce Boon son of George Boon escaped serious injury when a frightened horse left the road and tore loose from a shade tree. The boy was jerked from the lines, landed on the stone sidewalk, and was dragged briefly before releasing the reins. The horse was later caught on Front street. Eyewitnesses feared severe harm due to the boy being tossed through the air.

Last evening at the First Methodist Church the negative team won unanimously in a debate on the resolution that Traverse City buy Marion Island and convert it into a public park. Proponents cited affordable recreation, health benefits, and city pride. opponents warned of cost, taxes, transportation control, and potential Sunday crowding away from churches. Musical numbers filled the program as judges presided.
