City urged to fix water and sewer problems in Traverse City
Prof. E B Rich of the University of Michigan told city council that seventeen typhoid cases in six months point to unsafe water and requires chlorine treatment. He urged removing old closets and manure heaps, establishing regular garbage collection, and stricter enforcement of sanitation ordinances to curb disease.

Lifes Work Ended Charles W Faust Dies at 52
Charles W Faust 52 died early Tuesday at his home 515 State street after a long illness with diabetes. Born in Grand Rapids August 17 1860 he came to Traverse City 18 years ago as district agent for Grand Rapids Brewing company and built a prosperous office. He leaves a wife and two children Gladys and Harry, was active in charity and public service, member of BPOE F and AM Traverse City Commandery 41 and Knights Templar. Funeral Thursday at 2 pm at his home with Rev Demus Cochlin officiating.

Dams Break Cause Million Dollar Wisconsin Flood
A heavy Wisconsin River flood north of Wasau caused by two dam breaks incurred one million dollars in damage. No lives were lost though several farmhouses were swept away by the rising waters. In Evans Station near Uniontown Penn a mine suffered drownings when a company dam burst and water entered the mine.

Bodies Found After Torch Lake Drowning Mystery
Alden July 23 The disappearance of Roy Armstrong and Tigh vaughn from a Torch lake gasoline launch last Thursday afternoon was partially solved as both bodies were found floating on the lake surface. Vaughn was located about three miles from the drowning site, Armstrong later found three miles further from the initial point. Both boys, recent Mancelona High graduates, planned to attend the University of Michigan this fall and were well liked by the community. The boat and cargo were recovered intact, with an overturned lime barrel indicating the cause remains unclear after fifty years of settlement in the area.
