Churches fraternal societies and the Grange are urged to contribute news about social events entertainments local improvements business changes and real estate transfers in town and country.
Miss Edna Wall heads the Kingsley Department collecting local items from Kingsley and surrounding areas. A lively Christmas period includes a Young People’s Party at Monroe hall, wedding news, visits, travel plans, and multiple family holiday movements among residents and visitors in Traverse City, Mancelona, Grand Rapids, and neighboring towns.

The Rev W P Mosher of Bellaire Antrim County Western Michigan says two sons worked 40 acres this year and raised 636 dollars from corn fodder beans potatoes and bean straw while three acres of fruit trees added value He would not sell the farm for twice its cost noting the country is great for fruit and farming.
R P Rastcott of rural route No 11 Himirva Antriny county reports a potato crop yielding 4.5 acres with 950 bushels sold at 15 cents. The crop total brought $617.50 plus 105 bushels stored for seed and family use. Yield per acre was 234.4 bushels. at peak prices this fall the acreage return could reach over $165.
Plans for a campaign in Indiana to promote Western Michigan settlement progress with John Gibson of the Western Michigan Development Bureau to lecture on finding unoccupied lands. A 1912 edition illustrated magazine will be distributed to rural areas, aiming to reveal resources and attract settlers to the twenty Western Michigan counties.
A pickle salting station will be established at Mesick in Wexford County for the 1912 season. The plan includes a promised price of 1.20 dollars per hundred pounds for small cucumbers.
Lorenzo A. Clark of Harbor Springs and Mrs. Mary Dokey obtained the county’s first marriage license of 1912, issued Monday. Clark, veteran publisher of Harbor Springs Republican, met Dokey during a soldiers encampment last September, beginning a romance. Clark is a Civil War veteran, visiting old comrades from the 60s. the reunion era last spanned twenty years since the riverbank event near Mrs. Elsie Hannah’s residence.
The Probate Court of Grand Traverse County Michigan gives four months from January 3 1912 for creditors to present claims against Alvin E Hanks deceased. Claims must be filed at the probate office in Traverse City by May 7 1912 and will be heard that day at ten o clock in the forenoon. Judge Fred R Walker presiding.
