Flint electors will vote within weeks on adopting a commission form of city government. A charter revision commission is nearing completion with a Des Moines style plan that would elect a mayor and two commissioners at large, with salaries of 2500 dollars, primaries and general elections, civil service, initiative and referendum, and no ward divisions. It also proposes state farms, honor system wages, basic schooling for convicts, road work, parole supervision, and defer to the board of control on industry choices.
In Lansing Michigan changes among National Guard officers include Major H B Britton of Ypsilanti transferred to the signal corps. Capt A C Pack of Ann Arbor is promoted to major. Commission issued to Croat W Munehaus of Ionin as captain of Company A. Geen R Wogarth of Ypsilanti named captain of Company B in the signal corps.

Salvation Army officers Adjutant Dorothea Maurer and Adjutant Charles Mason will wed January 10 at Press hall with Colonel Charles Miles officiating. The ceremony, using Salvation Army ritual, plans to draw many state leaders. after the wedding they will tour Colorado Springs and possibly return to Grand Rapids.

A Thursday morning blaze at 443 East Eighth Street, in the former Huell Mantel hotel now owned by J G Belcher, started in the attic from an overheated chimney. The fire swept the attic and damaged the north roof and interior rooms on the second floor. Loss estimated around 4,000 dollars, with much furniture ruined. The building and contents were insured. Belcher expects to rebuild.
Secretary Gibson to attend the National Tariff Commission Association convention at the Willard in Washington on January 11 and 12. A banquet will feature President Taft, Senator Cumming, Hetheridge, and Congressman Longworth. The event aims to secure a final tariff settlement through broader business cooperation.
In Maple City on December 28 Mrs. Homer Webb passed away after a long life. Born April 13, 1829 in Marsden New York she married Homer Webb on April 13, 1853. A Congregational church member she was wife and mother. Survived by her husband and daughter Mrs William Kitchen.
