Christmas at school and Elks ball mark Traverse City week

Friday closed the first term of the year with Christmas programs in Elmwood and Central schools and a Vacation start at 2:80. Rev Laufman spoke on Christmas meaning and The Other Wise Man. Elks Lodge 873 hosted a charity ball for about 100 couples, raising around 200 for the poor with Wysong's orchestra and social rooms filled for dancing and luncheon.

Knights of Pythias Grand Officers Visit Traverse City Lodge

Thursday night drew a large crowd as Traverse City Lodge No. 73 hosted Grand Chancellor Leo A. Caro and Grand Lecturer W. E. H. Loomis of Grand Rapids. The first rank was conferred on three candidates. Caro and Loomis praised the lodge’s work and affirmed its high standing and prestige statewide. R. H. Christian of Grand Rapids Uniform Company attended.

Holidays Begin For City Teachers After Board Meeting

The holidays start Friday afternoon as trains carry teachers home after the board of education approved salary payments. Superintendent Gilbert will stay part in town and attend the State Teachers association in Saginaw. Principal Nye splits time between Battle Creek and Saginaw. Miss Youngs heads home to Vicksburg while Miss Montague goes to Coldwater, Miss Beagle to Ann Arbor, Miss McLaughlin to Novi, and Prof. Elliott to Lansing. The remaining High school staff includes Miss Cook, Prof. Kronerick, and Prof. Dumbrille.
