Death of Gannett Van Riper at 82 in Cass County

John R. Hamlin aged 0 years died at his home 902 Washington Street after a brief illness. A longtime resident of Traverse City he and his wife lived there 27 years and celebrated a golden wedding anniversary three years ago. He is survived by one brother Dr. Benjamin Hamlin of California and by his wife who has two siblings with her. Hamlin served in the ith Michigan infantry and was a member of G A R Post No. 15. He was a contractor and carpenter with Hamlin & Johnson, later owned a small farm west of the city and cultivated fruits and vegetables. He was a member of the First Congregational church and highly respected in the city.
