On Wednesday August 29 a large picnic will be held in Copemish with the Woodmen picnic association as sponsor. Prominent speakers from various places will attend. In addition to expected oratory there will be baseball games and other athletic events. Two bands will provide music and a fine attendance is anticipated.
The Gleaners organized Friday at Lone Tree with many members present. Elected were Chief Robert Barney and Vice Chief Emma Harris, Secretary Treasurer Lucer Ransom, Chaplain Mrs Ernest Welborn, Conductor Charles Welborn, Lecturer Ela Phillips, Inner Guard John Satchleben, and Outer Guard Earl Freeman.
Miss Nettie Gray went to Chicago for a few weeks visit with friends. Mrs W A Bate of Milwaukee and Mrs WW Gustine of Cadillac stay with their mother during Miss Gray s absence. Hobart Lewis returned to Grand Rapids. Herman Hyman came back from a business trip to Ohio. Josephine Gore and Mabel Scott head to Grand Rapids to stay awhile. D Castle visits Detroit relatives. Mrs Williams and daughter Talia go Reed City and Detroit for two weeks. Mrs M T M Martin returns to Amy Arbor from Milliken home. Mrs Chas Webb sails to Ludington for a short visit. Mr and Mrs John Huber depart for the south this winter. Bernice Pierce leaves for Grand Rapids to visit relatives. Mrs MLS Pew travels to Battle Creek for treatment after a runaway injury in Omena. Miss Charlotte Treat returns to Howard City from George Myers. Mrs C A Wessels of Harvey IL returns home after visits. Mr and Mrs G L Kilburn back to Alma after visiting. Mr and Mrs J C Whitney and two grandchildren head to Big Rapids for a few days.
A report from Monday’s Record states Reverend A T Ferguson of this city sustained a serious crush injury to his right foot when he was between two streetcars during an excursion arrival last evening. He was moved to his home for care after the accident near Boardman where the bumpers halted the cars.
Charles E. Murray, a veteran Grand River & L railroad man, died after a stroke near Carter's dock while preparing to take ladies on a trip. Police, neighbors, and Dr. Lawton worked to aid him. he collapsed, regained partial consciousness, and died at 6:00 p.m. Murray, born in Lincoln Maine, served as local G R & L agent in Traverse City and was active in boating and hunting clubs. Survived by wife and son Irving C. Murray. Health is Woman's Wealth ad follows.

Two sisters suffer eczema on the head while a testimonial from Edith Hammer of Morrison Illinois dates October 3, 1906, praises Cuticura Soap and Ointment for cure and notes household use of the products. A sister also used Cuticura Resolvent and Pills as a tonic.
