Death of Mrs. Abigail Hubbard Pioneer of Michigan

Mrs. Abigail Hubbard grandmother of Robert E. Walter of Fire Lake Michigan died last night at her daughter's home after years of age related illness and paralysis. She lived on a Jackson County farm for decades witnessing settlement and Indian relations. Survivors include three children, sixteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and a devout Christian life noted by family and friends. Services were set for tomorrow at the home before burial in Jackson County.

April Fool Party for City Teachers Ends Pleasantly

Miss Hulda Evang and Mrs. Fred L. Smith hosted a party for twenty city teachers at 615 West Ninth Street. Guests found playful April Fool pranks, a candy making activity, a guessing game, and a short musical series before the husband offered rides home after nineteen polite refusals.

Beulah Home Receives First Rubber Barrel From Traverse City

The Beulah Home received its first barrel of rubber from Traverse City. A group of young ladies known as the Beulah Home club organized the donation. In a letter of acknowledgment Mr. Swift notes there are several new boys at the home.

Surprise Birthday Visit Delights Elderly Mrs. Silsby

Thursday afternoon Mrs. George Metcalf and several neighbors surprised Mrs. L. J. Silsby on her 79th birthday at 922 Stalo Street. The guests brought refreshments and a quilt work rolls of worsted for Mrs. Silsby, who rarely walks but enjoyed the cheerful gathering.

Northern Michigan Transportation boats ready for season

The Northern Michigan Transportation Company has prepared boats for the season and plans to launch navigation on April 10 or 12. Officers for the year include Missouri captain William Winucan, first mate Alex Anderson, second mate George Johnson, chief engineer Thomas Collins, and Eugene Beckie. Winds captain John Stufflebeam leads first mate William McGuiggan, with engineers chief Id Wiederhold and James Burton as second.

Easter Party Entertains Congregational Sunday School Boys

Mrs. Winer hosted her class of boys from the Congregational Sunday school at Webster street on Friday night. The yearly tradition of entertaining the boys continued with an Easter party held at her home, following earlier gatherings at hast bay cottages.

Unknown offender fixed locomotives in shop stalls

The rest of the locomotives were checked and two more showed signs of tampering in the mechanical suite. The culprit is unknown to officials though master Hearst suspects an outsider. He notes damage was minor but could have caused serious harm if the other two machines had not been found. He urges the culprit be found to prevent further trouble.

Serious Accident Near Wingsley Involving Frank Lydell

Frank Lydell, once of Williamsburg, had a severe Friday accident while driving to Wingsley from his farm three miles east. A wagon overturn and a runaway lant of colts left him unconscious after a serious head injury and a badly injured horse. Zelma Angserge, five, daughter of Mr and Mrs W Angserge of Solon, died Thursday afternoon from pneumonia and whooping cough after a three day illness. funeral Sunday at 2 from the church in Solon, Rev Shelby officiating, Undertaker Anderson in charge.

Walk Raine Returns to Take Bookkeeper Post

Walk Raine, longtime bookkeeper for the Boston Store, has returned to Traverse City to serve as bookkeeper for Steinberg Brothers, after previously going to Ghattanooga, Tenn, with Charles Rosenthal.

Grand Traverse Pioneer George Hei Dies at 55 in Keystone

George Hei, pioneer of Grand Traverse county, died at his Keystone home from kidney trouble. He was 55 and had lived in the county for forty-five years. He leaves six children. His father, George Weim, Sr., died last fall. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at the residence with Uncle Maker Anderson in charge.
