A deputy game warden, a brother and a deputy sheriff drowned in a water incident. Authorities investigated the scene and identified the trio as missing and presumed drowned. Rescue teams searched the area while officials prepared a report on the mishap and its context.
In Whitehall Michigan three law officers Deputy Game Warden Julius Salmonson Deputy Sheriff J C Hazeltine and Martin Salmonson disappeared during an illegal net patrol on White Lake. A boat cap coat and Hazeltine’s cap were found. Threats against officers were reported. Bodies later recovered. foul play suspected amid tensions with illegal fishing rings.
Kingsley Michigan report of Irene Baumgarth, four year old daughter of R Baumgarth, losing her thumb when a sharp edged stick slipped from her grip and struck it. Medical attention given and no serious results anticipated.

Bobbie Mann son of Robert Mann of Manistee is in serious condition with lockjaw after stepping on a nail in a board. He requires feeding by tube. Sister Jessie Mann, visiting from Grand Rapids, learned of the injury and passed through Manistee to see him.
L O Rice president of Queen City Implement Co has been elected director of People's Savings Bank. Rice built a leading northern implement store after arriving 15 years ago with little more than ambition. He started in lumber work janitorial jobs and later the Barney Anderson and Queen City Implement firms before organizing his own company in 1905. Also mentions Delta Ohio resident Mrs J M Longnecker visiting sons and other local moves.
Andrew Delverme the Italian condemned for killing Toby Page at Rome New York in 1906 was electrocuted at Auburn prison at 6 11 this morning He maintained to the end that Page fell on his own knife Mrs T Sheehan and daughter Miss Margaret Sheenan who had visited the Rev Fr Sheehan left Bay City today they had stayed in the city the last three months
Pekin officials confirm the dowager empress is seriously ill and that the emperor is dead, according to today’s dispatches from the imperial capital. The report states the emperor has died and the empress’s condition is grave.
Mr and Mrs H H Johnson plan to move to Oklahoma likely near Tulsa with their family. Johnson of Bingham township will sell farm implements and stock on November 24 and then relocate. Unsure whether to sell or rent the farm. they are well known and their departure will be deeply regretted by many friends.
Tsze Hsi An the dowager empress and autocratic head of government dies at Pekin at 2 p.m. The death follows the emperor Kuang Hsu who died on Saturday. Pu Yi, the one year old son of Prince Chun, is proclaimed heir and placed on the throne by edict. Foreign legations notified, troops on standby to prevent disturbance.
George G. Thirlby son of Mr and Mrs Benjamin Thirlby and Nellie White daughter of Mr and Mrs James White were married Saturday at 8 am in the bride’s home officiated by Rev A A Allington of Oak Park Congregational Church. The simple ceremony attended by close relatives featured a ring service. A wedding breakfast followed and the couple traveled by mail boat to Leland then by car to the city where they will reside on Ninth street starting their new home.
Mrs. Fred D. Curtis and her children will depart for Grand Rapids in the morning to establish their future home. Mr. Curtis, who holds a responsible post with the Providence-Washington Insurance Co., will oversee Michigan as his territorial area, prompting the relocation.
Mr and Mrs William Huedel of the Peninsula learn of the death of their niece Laura Sunke of Grand Rapids. Known in Traverse City for her visits with cousins and friends her passing will shock many in the community.
Louis Valentine Beattie aged 29 dies at home after a three week illness of typhoid fever and peritonitis. He leaves a widow and three children, parents in Nebraska, several siblings, and coworkers from Citizens Telephone company. Funeral at 2 PM Wednesday at 1011 East Front street with Maccabees attending.
Washington dispatch reports the death of the Chinese emperor, age 38, from nephritis with other diseases. The dowager empress Tzu Hsi ruled during his reign, with no further details provided in the cable from Pekin.
Joseph E McEvoy aged 77 died at 9 30 p m Monday at his son James E McEvoy 410 West Eleventh street after months of illness dropsy and complications caused his passing He came to the city two years ago after his wife’s death his former home was Flint He died while kneeling in prayer leaving a son James E and a daughter Mrs George Jones of Ovid.
Saulte Ste Marie Michigan reports Silas Hare of Kentucky was shot in the arm at Rudyard by a hunter mistaken for a deer. In the past days two others have been killed in similar incidents. Mrs Helen Abbott traveled to Big Rapids while Mrs C S Nelson of Northport headed to Buffalo for the funeral of her uncle A B Delmer.
Roosevelt era uplift movement presses ahead as the uplifters’ committee investigates rural conditions in states south of Washington and east of the Mississippi. They depart tonight for Tennessee Texas Arizona and California with hearings in the central west on return, culminating December 18 in Washington.
James Kehl of Northport announced completion of the new road from Smith avenue Northport to Fernbrook. The route crosses estates including Arvival A Powers Mary J Wolfe Kehl Bros Seddie P Wright Fernbrook and ends at the camp meeting grounds at Shah sho kezhi k. The road will aid bay shore property owners and festival attendees traveling from the village.
In Manistique Michigan on November 13 Donald Wood was shot in the neck by a hunting companion while pursuing a wounded deer. He steadied himself, retrieved his gun, and killed the fleeing buck. He was taken home, his wound dressed, and he is expected to recover. John Hackensack and H J Neville were the other two in the party.
