Methodist Benefit Show Delights Large Audience at Opera House
The Friday night entertainment for the Ladies Missionary Society of the Methodist church drew a large crowd and strong praise. Miss Alline Johnson led as stage manager while performers such as Misses Burkett Eddleman Martin and Mrs Bow man carried the program with songs and piano pieces. The play A Care of Suspicion featuring Corrie Gallaher Winnie Tankersley Louretia Ed dieman and others drew the house, evoking continuous laughter and applause. During the event a mishap occurred when Hurt at the Gin W G Brandon injured his right hand while oiling stands near the gin awaiting the next act.

Theatre Triumph In Graham Prompts Return Engagement
The Truman DeRoame Company impressed Graham with performances at the opera house earning high praise from theatergoers. Richard Helder’s portrayal in The Light That Fell left a lasting impression and managers hope for a return engagement this season. Meanwhile Judge Martin will lead Archer County court as Special Judge Nicholson completes remaining business. Jim Wood was injured in the Cross Plains storm as his crew’s school building collapsed leaving two seriously hurt and a dramatic escape recounted in his letter to his father.

Death of Will C Groner Near Loying Jack County
Will C Groner died at his father W C Groner’s home near Loying and was buried in Jacksboro Saturday. Rev C R Taylor of the First Baptist Church conducted the funeral. Groner, about twenty five, was born in Jack County and recently lost his wife. He was brother of Rev Frank Groner of Waco, a leading Missionary Baptist preacher.

John Craig and Miss Forest Jones Wed in Throckmorton
John Craig married Miss Forest Jones at Throckmorton on Sunday night September 15. The bride, daughter of J. T. Jones owner of the Jones Hotel, is praised as a popular Throckmorton young lady. The groom grew up in Graham and plans to settle in Throckmorton.

Death of Joe Dixon at Olney and local farming notes
Joe Dixon died at Olney last Sunday after an appendectomy and was buried in Rock Creek cemetery on Monday. He had lived on Judge R. P. Arnold's farm in Miller Bend for the past year and was raised in this county. C. D. Yancey reports the Eliasville area crops and feed conditions, noting a short cotton crop but ample feed as farmers prepare shelter and livestock provisions.
