A store advertises overstocked inventory with price reductions on many items. It promotes winter purchases with half price shoes for men women and children and lists 400 men's shirts valued at 50 cents and up.
Last Friday the Graham Fire Company tested the new alarm system. A trash pile in the street was set alight by a match from Thomas of Southwestern Telephone. The alarm box was broken, the whistle blew in seven seconds, and the hose wagon arrived in two minutes and five seconds. Mayor Street thanked Thomas for installing the system and praised the volunteer department.
Mrs Will Beckham died at her Fresno California home last Friday after a long battle with cancer. She suffered injuries in a runaway years ago and never fully recovered. Born in Graham she leaves brothers Frank M Burkett and sister Mrs R G Graham in this area, another sister Mrs Noble Baty in Virginia. The community mourns the loss of a longtime family friend.
A seven year old son of Mr and Mrs J S Burkett dislocated his left elbow and fractured the arm in two places while playing with other children in the yard at home last Thursday evening. The family physician set the bones and the boy is recovering. Citizens should learn the new alarm system and locate the nearest box. Mr Thomas said an alarm box could be placed near homes for $2.00, a worthwhile investment for fire protection.
Austin November 21 The governor says no special session will be called and he will focus on preparing his final message for the regular Thirty fourth legislature. He notes his power to call such a session but leaves the matter to new lawmakers as replies come in.
Bryson Texas November 22 A fire yesterday morning destroyed the Methodist parsonage in Bryson Jack County. The blaze started from a defective flue and nearly all contents were saved as there was no insurance.
The Baptist church announces regular worship services will be held next Sunday. Details on times or attendees are not listed in the accessible text.
Ed Wallace died last Monday evening in Bisbee Arizona. His body will arrive here Friday or Saturday night for interment at Oak Grove Cemetery. He is survived by his sister and her husband Mr and Mrs Fred Perry and his mother who is too feeble to travel. Mr and Mrs Glenn McCarver travel from Cisco to attend the funeral and remain afterward. Wallace was reared here and had a large circle of friends in this region. The Leader extends sympathy to the bereaved.
The county commissioners court, in a called session, ordered the cessation of road work with the county gangs effective December 12. State convicts on the Fort Worth to Roswell highway will be returned and current work halted for now. The move halts Bryson to Throckmorton line project progress, though hopes remain for future completion.

Les Hiveux Club hosted Mrs. M. K. Graham and Miss Margueret Robinson of Dallas as honor guest for a 2 to 6 PM gathering. Four progressive auction bridge games crowned Mrs. John Gay first and Mrs. Fred Arnold second. Robinson received a white crocheted cap. Mincemeat pies and coffee served to twenty. Vital statistics list several birth announcements in Graham, Olney, Newcastle, and Orth along with marriage licenses between local residents.
Residents urged to call for nursery goods with a home delivery option. W D Spivey promises to come and sell items directly to customers who request a purchase.
A Saturday night gathering at the Flat Rock home of Mr. and Mrs. Wake Cook drew several guests including Misses Maggie Corley Lena Humble Frances Hamilton Jennie Bell and Mae Hunter and Messrs Sidney Self Orbry Jones Bismark Bowers Curtis Hunter and Bill Martin.
