The store announces an overstock sale to save money for winter purchases. A large assortment of men women and children shoes is offered at about half price along with 100 men shirts advertised at 50 cents and up.
Belgians are to be brought from wartime Europe to Texas to settle 1000 women and children on farms in the Panhandle. Mrs. Adair of the J A ranch plans the resettlement and has chartered a ship to Galveston. The operation aims to relocate Belgian refugees as relief amid the war.
The Producers O Company reports a five foot coal vein found in a well on land owned by Mr. Wel on his Snalum ranch northeast of town. The sample indicates good quality and potential value. The oil well is about 1500 feet deep and progress is being made after recovering a lost tool.
Today's local option election in Baylor County Texas reports a wide majority for reemphasized ties with Baylor Seymour. Navy opponents tally limited support as 28 indications favor the proposed option.

Austin Texas November 30 1914 about 18000 Confederate pension warrants for the quarter ending November 30 1914 were mailed by the comptroller's department to the pensioners. Of the total 1500 are totally disabled and receive 24 dollars for the quarter while the rest receive 22 dollars.
Prof. J. E. Blair of Corsicana was chosen president at the San Antonio meeting. Blair formerly directed the San Marcos Normal and the University Normal.
Last Sunday at the Baptist church drew large, representative crowds. Nine new members were added, and the evening closed with baptism. Services were scheduled for Sunday December 6 with strong Sunday school and B Y P A attendance. W G Blount was seriously injured at Weatherford in the T P railroad yard with both legs expected to be amputated. He is 27, single, and in Weatherford sanitarium under care.
George Clapton Ragland, infant son of Mr and Mrs G E Ragland of Electra, died in Olney after several weeks of illness. His mother has been in a Wichita Falls sanitarium for a serious operation, and her condition is feared to be affected by the news.
Harry Tipper, president of the New York advertising league, spoke in Dallas about improving prospects in New York and the East. He noted a large American advertiser wondered when the United States would win back $200,000,000 in English trade that had previously gone to Germany.

News of Ed Wallace's death spread across the city and county after a mine accident near Bisbee on Monday November 23. He died Friday night while en route home with his two sons Marvin and Medlin and his sister Mrs. Fred M. Perry. Wallace, a longtime resident, was son of Mrs. M. D. Wallace. his father was killed while sheriff years ago. His mother remains in Arizona, unable to attend the funeral, but sent flowers and stays with her daughter Mrs. J. H. Bryan at Clifton. Born in Olburne Texas June 3, 1867 he married Bell Burnett in December 1879. Funeral services were held at his sister Mrs. Nat Price's home conducted by Revs. Hall and Boswell, with burial beside his father in Oak Grove cemetery.
Owing to disagreeable weather there was no Priscilla Club meeting at Mrs. J. C. Vaughan's on Tuesday afternoon. The next gathering will be hosted by Mrs. R. E. Bryan on December 8.
