Graham High School closes after fire losses
Graham High School completed a difficult term after its building burned in October. Diplomas were awarded to eighteen graduates at First Christian Church. The school, operating in churches, earned two and a half additional units of affiliation, the limit for its curriculum, with plans for physiology and Spanish credits later. The ceremony featured remarks from E. L. Howell and a vocal program by the Glee Club.

Graham's Two Papers Consolidate June 1 War Savings Move

Proffitt and Wiley Wed at Murray Methodist
D. R. Proffitt and Miss Cora Wiley were married at the Murray Methodist church on Sunday May 26 with Rev. W. L. Strickland officiating. The groom is a young farmer and stockman from Newcastle county. the bride from Woodson who taught at Bunger last year. They will reside near Newcastle.

Mrs Graves Dies At Home In Graham After Stroke
Mrs W L Graves died at her Graham home last Tuesday morning at 9 o clock and was buried in Oak Grove cemetery yesterday morning. Funeral services were held at the Christian church where she had been a member for many years. She was born in Florida on June 29 1859 and moved to Graham in 1876. She married W L Graves in Graham January 17 1879. She had been in ill health for years and suffered a stroke of apoplexy last week from which she did not rally. The Leader offers sympathy to the bereaved husband and relatives. A union revival between the Methodist and Presbyterian churches begins next Sunday with Evangelist Neal preaching and Director Poulter leading singing under a large tent near the business district. townspeople are invited to attend.

Road bond election postponed to June 29 1918
Technical changes enacted in the last legislative session delay the issuance of bonds totaling 250000 dollars for Road District No 1 and another 250000 dollars for Road District No 2. The vote is rescheduled to June 29 1918.
Red Cross Drive Reaches Graham Quota After Auction Rallies
The Graham Red Cross campaign surpassed its $3,000 target as local events and a Call Field aviator visit boosted total proceeds to about $1,100 plus prior contributions. An unprecedented five hour street auction raised funds with hogs ham turkeys fowl flour and other items drawing strong crowd support.
