Six year old Barney Baker son of Walter and Mrs Baker dies after being bitten on the foot by a rattlesnake while returning from field with his sister. The burial took place at Hawkins Chapel cemetery yesterday afternoon as the community extends sympathy.
Estes J Wadley and Miss Alta Jones wed at the bride’s parents home in Tank Valley on a Sunday afternoon. A E White is their son and is at Camp Travis on furlough. the family notes a flag loan program and band stand preparations in the park.
The Markley and Colston Community Council in the far northeast part of the county was organized Sunday afternoon after decoration ceremonies. Officers include Chairman M. A. Stewart Secretary C. C. Calvin Finance J. W. Cox W. H. Daily Mrs Lillie Calvin Mrs Ruth Pridauex Food F. M. Gilmore Labor W. W. Gregg Red Cross Mrs Josie Williams. Additional members to be named. All councils to be organized by May 20 for the Red Cross drive.
The Texas Governor urges all citizens to attend Sunday school and preaching next Sunday to mark Go to Church Sunday and Mothers Day. The call involves every church in Grandville and the Pastor's Association in Texas.

In response to demand from Young County youths, a independent Military Company will organize in Graham on Monday evening May 13 at 8 oclock. Open to males ages 15 to 21 who are able bodied, it aims at drill and instruction with no obligation for active service. Young County exceeded its Third Liberty Loan quota of 166,970 by pledging 184,550 with about 18,000 raised by local organizations and 1236 subscribers. Every district in the county surpassed its local quota.
H K Ragland announces graveyard work at Center Ridge next Saturday April 11. Volunteers are invited to attend and bring dinner.
W. M. Miller plans a grand opening for the Graham Market next Saturday with preparations underway and vendor stalls being arranged for a local shopping event.

R H Choate, longtime Young County resident and respected citizen, died of pneumonia at his Newcastle home last Saturday. Funeral followed Sunday at True cemetery. Survived by wife and three children Mrs Shirley White of Olney J H Choate of Orth and Rufus Choate of Quanah.
A large gathering from Young and surrounding counties meets at the ecourtouse today to promote a hard surfaced road from Wichita Falls to Brownwood through the Oil Belt. Delegates from leading towns attend as excellent speeches energize the crowd. full proceedings hoped for next week.
Eschol Pistole, a Seymour merchant and cotton man, was shot and killed at his desk at noon Saturday. Coroner reports an accidental discharge from an automatic shotgun. Pistole earlier lived in Jacksonboro with parents Dr. and Mrs. W. Pistole.
Mr. Pistole is a brother in law of P. K. Deats of this city and Mrs Pistole formerly Miss Loret a Deats of Albany, who visited here before her marriage.
