Saturday brings des tiny for the town hog as the marshal may impound if not penned. Graham loses a hog ranch due to city council action while merchants advertise a large new Dry Goods stock and millinery arrivals. J L Payne returns from Buckner Orphans home to aid, and local lawmen handle Tank Valley affairs with nearby Indians visiting Graham.
A Miss Hulcomb wed Mr Harrold of South Bend after her fiancé Mr Williams from a neighboring county faced a blocked union. Williams had obtained a license but was stopped by Hulcomb’s father. Harrold later secured a license and married Hulcomb amid neighborhood controversy.
Carload sale lists a heavy carved bedroom suite with bedstead dresser wash stand and drawers with patent rollers. Includes slate finish antique polish and casters. Priced at 25 dollars cash for immediate sale with a free English white granite wash bowl and soap dish for the first buyer. Call W.8 McJimsey to view.
An assortment of crafts and fabrics at Jewell’s and Jewett’s, hats at multiple stores, groceries and dry goods stocked by Morrison Street & Co, Sacmaker Bros, and D M Howard of Mineral Wells. Local residents invest in Edison phonographs and plan summer travel. A municipal election is discussed with calls for able aldermen and scrutiny of rival plots.
Wheat and oats look fine with corn coming up and a good rain needed. References to local people on Salt Creek and nearby prairie and river trips. Notices of illnesses, Sunday church services, and social gatherings follow, dated March 27, 1893, with a note to inspect H. S. Eichelberger’s Percheron stallion before breeding.
It is regretted again that several of my best pupils failed to reach the required grade due to non attendance. The note invites students to call at Morison Sinner Co house headquarters in Graham, whether purchases are planned or not, promising room for all.
The Commissioners Court orders bids advertised for the keeping of the swipers of Young County. Bids to be received and opened at the regular term on the second Monday in May 1898. The Court reserves the right to reject any or all bids. N. J. TIMMONS, County Judge.

The text also rails at a town kicker, lampooning his politics and urging support for local merchants like Wadley Implement Co and JEWELL'S, with social notices and local deaths. It closes with various shop notices and a base ball gear reminder.

S.8 winter quarter ends and grows in numbers. Dr Price of Mixa to visit soon. Ed Hunter improves after pneumonia with rest. Fishermen want rain to muddy river for fish. Julius Ardis appointed road overseer in East Texas and resents it. Stock show held with little local notice. Donnell unhappy over treatment affecting hound exhibit potential. A Saturday meeting of teachers in Tank Valley drew few attendees with hopes for better turnout at Belknap on the first proxime. The note lists planned lessons on reading drawing numbers and outlines promotions for Dr. Kings New Discovery and New Life Pills with free samples from H. E Bucklen & Co. It also mentions Percheron horses and various horse blemish cures from the Graham Drug Co and Wadley Implement Co. Tom Boas’s illness is noted.
A Pettus county letter writer argues about building a bridge across the Brazos River. He discusses costs and political opposition from his father and neighbors, mentions local ferry notes and a dispute with Pettus, and claims plans to move nearer Blatherskite farm. He hints at threats and seeks a deputy position to carry a pistol.
Young county commissioners opened bids from twelve bridge firms for crossings over the Brazos. Companies include Pittman and Ruth, Chicago Bridge & Iron Co, Iron Substructure Co, American Bridge & Iron Co, and others. Four bridges were approved to be built at Goose Neck Whiskey Creek and Eliasville, with bids reopened for Whiskey Creek and Eliasville crossings. The court hired an engineer to tabulate bids as executives review details. no contracts yet awarded and payment feasibility remains uncertain.
