West Texas Chamber to Sponsor High School Speech Contest
Amarillo will host a speaking contest on My Town during the West Texas Chamber of Commerce annual convention in June. Up to one entrant per town, a bona fide high school student under 21, with an eligibility certificate and town endorsement, may compete for prizes including a silver cup 100 dollars in gold a Texas Tech scholarship and a possible free train trip to Philadelphia for Sesqui Centennial.

Infant Harold Schlittler Dies in Mineral Wells
Harold Franklin Schlittler infant son of Mr and Mrs Henry Schlittler Jr died in Mineral Wells last Saturday. Funeral services were conducted by Rev C C Klingman and burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery. He was born March 2 and died March 13, living only a few days.

Light Rains Boost Grain and Grass in Young County
Weather over the past week in Young County swung from frost and ice to light rains that aided crops. A .35 inch shower fell Wednesday night and Thursday morning, helping corn and small grain, with cooler, cloudy days and hopes for more rain to keep growth progressing. Dewey Young Dies After Appendix Operation
