Judge Wilson Opens Spring Term of District Court
Judge H R Wilson convened the spring term of the 30th district court with a mostly full jury after weather delays. The grand jury was sworn, and he charged them to investigate gambling, liquor, and lewd conduct, plus other crimes, urging careful indictments. Special officers were sworn and a long list of petit jurors was named for the first week. Several cases were disposed or dismissed in the opening days of the term.

City Builds Concrete Crossings Across Streets
Mayor Stinson said the city would add concrete crossings where block owners laid concrete walks and the project is underway despite weather delays. City Engineer Nicolet hopes to speed up work as crews lay crossings along Third Street near the square, with many blocks close to completion and pedestrians hampered by gaps to the business district.

Craig-Millis Wedding Unites Miss Caroline Craig and Hugh Millis
The Graham home hosted the wedding of Miss Caroline Craig to Hugh Lowell Millis of Houston at 2 PM. The ceremony, attended by about 100 guests, featured pink and white decor, music by Miss Akard, and a ring ceremony led by Rev. T. E. Bowman. The bride, a St Marys and Columbia alum, wore a grey satin suit for the reception and left for a Houston home. Out of town guests included Erica Weary, R M Garvey, Bell Martyn, and Grata Lichte.

Ex Texans from the University of Texas in Graham gathered for a March 2 banquet at the Capitol Hotel. About 45 attendees, led by toast master Fred T. Arnold, heard readings and Texas yells. A permanent ex-students organization was formed with Arnold president and H E Griffin vice president. Secretary-treasurer named Miss Catherine Craig. Balloting for Students' Association officers to occur during Commencement week. The group sang The Eyes of Texas as a finale.

Congress closes two year session in a quiet adjournment
The 67th congress adjourned Sunday at noon after almost two years in continuous session. It passed major measures including the Fordney McCumber tariff, budget system, four power Pacific treaty ratifications, naval arms accords, immigration restriction, and extensive war debt funding. Several bills failed or were vetoed, such as the soldier bonus and ship subsidy.

An election will be held April 7 to select four trustees for the Graham independent school district. Terms of Criswell King and Duncan expire in April. A successor to Arnold, who resigned, will also be elected. County trustees and county board of education election held on the same date.

Graham Votes To Pen All Chickens
The Graham election last Saturday approved keeping chickens out of town or in a pen by 205 to 61. Voters favored restricting free roaming due to damage to gardens and flower beds.
