Mrs John Martin Dies After Long Illness at Home
Mrs John Martin died at her east city home about 9 o clock last Monday morning March 5 after extended illness. Funeral services were held at her daughter Mrs R L Reed’s home with Rev J E Evans, then the body was taken to McKinney for burial beside her family. Emily C Stronghan born February 7 1840 in Lawrence County Tennessee came to Texas as a child, married John Martin in 1859, and raised fifteen children. She leaves a large family including her husband of fifty nine years seven sons five daughters thirty grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She joined the Christian church early and lived a devout life until death. The family moved to Young County in 1900.

Mrs J C Brown died Sunday morning after a brief illness and was shipped to Henderson county for burial. Her husband and three sons survive. the infant was about twenty days old. Services were held Sunday at 5 pm conducted by Rev Ashley Chappell, Methodist pastor.

News arrives from Goree Texas that Hayes Payne died February 8 at his brother’s home. Funeral and burial took place there. A young man with good morals and many friends, he lived in this community for years and leaves two brothers.

Sudden Illness Prompts Surgery for H. M. Ford
H. M. Ford fell ill with acute appendicitis at his home near South Bend on Monday night and was transported to the hospital for an operation yesterday. The procedure was completed and he is reported to be doing as well as could be expected at this time.
