Bert McGlamery and Miss Lennie Kimble were married Tuesday morning in Gorman Texas. Rev J H Walker officiated at the bride home ceremony. The groom will serve as assistant principal of Glenwood schools in Greenwood after a summer in Fort Worth.
A general basket picnic will be held at Graham on the fourth of July under the auspices of the WO W and W CC. All are invited especially Camps Groves and their families. A Class initiation of the W O W will take place that day. Full program to be published later.
We thank everyone who helped during the Friday morning fire that destroyed our home. We especially praise the prompt responders and the Fire Boys for their faithful work and the sympathy shown by friends. Mrs A E Liogan and Family.
Reverend J Hal Bowman came back Tuesday from Mineral Wells where he preached Sunday. Mrs Bowman and Rosemary accompanied him as far as a plan.
Fire destroyed the new residence of Mrs. A. E. Logan early Friday. Evla woke to a blaze on the roof as flames spread rapidly, leaving only a piano and some furniture saved from the lower floor. The five thousand dollar structure had no insurance and neighbors aided in preventing spread to nearby homes.
Austin White and Lawton Burnett visited Us last Saturday noting poor wheat yields. They said G. R. White and W. H. Burnett would not average more than ten bushels per acre. White farmed about thirty five acres and Burnett forty in wheat with ten in oats.
Mrs John Dowde and her daughter Fantine pack household foods in Fort Worth and plan to return to Graham. They may visit Weatherford later this week. Ed visited his uncle Alex McLaren eight miles south of Graham. The community welcomes the family back to Graham.
Last Friday a dozen neighborhood girls joined Jittle Willie Hell Philips for an afternoon of outdoor games. Ice Stape juice and cake followed the games. Pink and white candles topped ten birthday candles as Sweet peas colored the decor. Miss Beau'ah Stone led the games with the Travis boys and Mississippi cousins joining. Guests left gifts and wished many more happy birthdays.
The Dont Worry Club held a Friday meeting with Mrs W M Howard. New officers were elected for the Willow group Mrs W C Burns president Mrs Walter Douglas vice president Mrs Edgar Matthews secretary Mrs Harvey Bills reporter Mrs Fay Marshall assistant reporter. After business guests enjoyed sandwiches punch and cake. Fay Marshall welcomed as a new member. Next meeting set with Mrs Nat Price on Friday the 19th.
Mrs Jessie Woods and her young daughter spent last week visiting relatives in Omey and returned home Monday.
Mrs G Q Street entertained the Les Hibaux Club and neighbors in honor of her Memphis Texas mother Mrs Wheat. Mrs Will Norman won high score with a fan. Mrs Fred T Arnold won consolation with hat pins. Hostess assisted by Mrs Harry Wadsworth and Miss Dot Graham served cream and cake.
A box of clothing and articles will be prepared in Graham and sent to Buckner Orphans Home in about two weeks. Those who can contribute are urged to donate promptly. Send donations to Mrs. H. R. Crawford.
Dennis Strother, about 29, of the Proffitt community, was adjudged insane yesterday at the courthouse by a commission of doctors. Arrangements were made to commit him to a state institution promptly. The law now requires such trials before a grand jury appointed medical committee instead of a jury as in the past.
Mrs Fred T Arnold entertains her guest Miss Eva Mizzell sister to Mrs Arnold, visiting from Liano Texas for a social call at the family home.
At the Presbyterian Church service last week Misses Willa Kigore Amy and Willie May Price and T T Garrett joined the church. Rev Snoddy spoke on preparation for greater good. five hundred forty additions noted at a Wichita Falls meeting. clean-up day declared for Graham with mayor urging participation. John Price and Bess Baynes welcomed. Attendance strong, especially among youth. Cleanliness praised as duty to health and faith.
A Sunday School class of ten to twelve girls in their teens honored Miss Eula Logan with a surprise gathering at her sister Mrs Carlton’s home. Each girl presented a toiletry gift chosen with care for Miss Logan’s taste and comfort, prompting a gracious thanks from the honoree.
The evening sermon focused on The Holy Spirit from John 16 7 and attendance was strong at both services. He preached at Tank Valley in the afternoon and has arranged a service at the camp on Thursday evening at Bowers Hill.
