Pioneer Citizen C D Gholson Dies After Illness
Mr C D Gholson of East Graham dies after a several day measles illness. Born February 28 1849 in Falls County he came to Young County fifty years ago. He married Elizabeth Gilmore and leaves a wife a daughter two grandsons a sister and a half brother. He contributed to Connor Creek church building and remained a devout Methodist. He will be missed by family and community.

The Women s and Girls Demon tration clubs raised funds for Short Course participants at A and M College. A pie supper at Indian Mound netted 33.05 dollars, with W H Kennedy sending 2 dollars since he could not attend. Proffitt hosted a supper Saturday night adding 26.80 dollars to the treasury as clubs name their representatives.

Drilling Permits Rise Across North County Fields
Twenty seven drilling permits were issued last week in this territory signaling active shallow production across the northern county and into Jack and Archer Counties. Completions were reported near Orth and Jean with more in the Markley and Prideaux fields though full data is not yet available. A busy drilling campaign is planned for several months as new pools open weekly between 500 and 900 feet.

Graham Texas hatchery manager P. C. Walker says the Lone Star Hatchery ends its Mammoth Buckeye Incubator season on June 21 and will reopen September 1. The 10,068 capacity incubator ran near full, with hatch rates up to 98 percent and some eggs shipped to Jacksboro to meet demand. Walker plans expansion next season and touts southern growth for hatcheries.
