Revival Tent Services Under Baptist Auspices

Seymour Barbecue Draws 5 000 to 10 000 Visitors

A large excursion train arrived around 1 pm for Seymour's barbecue last Wednesday. About 5 000 to 10 000 people attended. the crowd was orderly and enjoyed brass bands and speeches from O B Colquitt H Bascom Thomas J W Veale and other prominent figures. Crops near the new railroad show progress and prosperity.

Picnic planned with speakers and county candidates

J T Lamar from Jean reported a big town picnic set for Tuesday June 28. The event will feature talks by several prominent speakers, county candidates, ball games and band music, with all residents invited to attend.

Narrow Escape Ends With Near-Death Car Incident

R M Todd narrowly escaped serious harm last week when his car stalled on Dobbs hill near Newcastle. With no brakes the vehicle rolled backward toward the slope, and his attempt to steer it to stop it failed as the speed increased. The incident highlights a dangerous maneuver and cautions drivers about vehicle control on grades.

Car incident saves man as crowd assists

A man was overturned under a car but could not free himself until bystanders came to his aid. The vehicle was righted and he helped in lifting the machine. Mr. Todd was uninjured.

Boys Corn Club Transport Plan Promoted

Special agent Tom M Marks of the Department of Agriculture visited last Saturday to push for a special car to run from here to Dallas on Boys Corn Club Day. He urged Graham Commercial Club to support securing a dedicated agent for Young County with headquarters at Graham to support the district's Boys Corn Clubs.

Graham school bond election to be held July 16

A petition signed by many citizens prompts the Graham school board to authorize a July 16 vote on issuing bonds totaling 846000. If approved, funds will finance either a building addition to the existing school or a separate new building. The community is praised for strong school support as the county committee faces a tight schedule with Saturday as the deadline for candidate filing.

Census Bureau to release Young County population July 1

County chairman J W Akin reports an Attorney General opinion that the Census Bureau will furnish Young county population on July 1 upon request. The AG further states that county and district clerk offices and the sheriff and tax collector offices must be divided when a county exceeds ten thousand in population. The county is certain to meet that threshold.

Picnic at Eliasville Draws Praises For Hospitality

A large Eliasville picnic held last Friday featured abundant fried fish for all attendees. Principal speakers included Judge R F Arnold, candidate for district judge, and candidates Hon A S Moss and S M Foster for district attorney. Graham attendees praised local Eliasville hospitality.

Davidson Speaks in Young County Governor Candidate

Hon R V Davidson candidate for governor will address Graham Tuesday June 28 at 7 p m. He will also speak at the big picnic at Jean the same day at 10 a m.
