Twenty two members met in Granum on Saturday July 17 for a beef and dairy cattle judging contest. They toured Taack farm north of Newcastle with Mr. W C Hale, then returned to Graham for a Chamber lunch and a theatre trip. Three top scorers are Leonard Dennis, Enoch Steen, and Medlan Choate, who will attend the A M College Short Course on August 2.

Cloudy unsettled weather dominates as Graham sees no rain since July 7 with only light sprinkles nearby this week. Dry spells for threshing and cotton persist while the cotton flea appears in several communities per County Agent W C Hale. Barn Fire Destroys Dodge Car and Goods
A fire at Chas. Bakers barn Tuesday afternoon destroyed a Dodge automobile and miscellaneous items. Firefighters replied quickly and contained the blaze. Cause unknown. An earlier alarm from South Graham on Saturday noted trash burning with no damage.

Baptist Revival at Fort Worth Church Concludes
The Baptist Church closed its two week revival last Sunday night led by Dr. H. E. Dana of Fort Worth. Singing directed by Mr. Cooper and his sister drew daily praise. About forty new members were added or pledged for baptism, with twenty baptized last Sunday night and others to follow by letter or statement.

Clothing Contest Showcased by Stephens County Girls

1927 Auto Plates Will Be Green And White
The State Highway Commission expects more registrations in 1927 and has set new color designs for plates. Ordinary passenger cars will have white numbers on a green background with 975,000 pairs ordered. Commercial cars get green numbers on white with 125,000 pairs ordered. Buses use gray background with black numbers in 12,500 pairs, trailers and tractors get blue background with black numbers in 12,500 singles, and motorcycles use black background with yellow numbers in 6,000 singles.

Fire Devastates Eliasville Business Block Believed Largest in Town
A early Monday fire caused by a gas water heater destroyed the central two story block in Eliasville. The Eliasville State Bank and A A Donnelli ownership building burned but bank vault contents survived. Several shops including Brown's Variety Store Sharpe's Drug Store Browne's Grocery Telephone Exchange and medical offices were also lost. Firefighters aided evacuations and the town eyed rebuilding soon.
