Jacksboro Fourth Observed by Woodmen Groups

The Woodmen of the World and Woodmen Circle of Graham joined the Jacksboro celebration with about twenty attendees. After arrival at the station guests were guided to breakfast and grounds by a local committee. The graves of Woodmen were decorated at 9 30, followed by a picnic with music from the Jacksboro band and speeches by Marks, Spiller, and others. The Graham party praised Jacksboro hospitality and courtesy of locals and Circle ladies.

Protracted Baptist Meeting Under Large East 3rd Street Tent

The Baptist congregation conducts a protracted meeting under a large tent on East 3rd Street near the new church site. Rev Penrod of Cleburne preaches with Prof Bird of Missouri guiding the singing. A strong choir led by Prof Bibb enhances services. another session starts Friday night before the second Sunday in July at the arbor near Bullock's raheb. All invited for salvation.

City Waterworks Bonds Favored for Graham Plan

The attorney general plans to approve Graham city bonds for waterworks and urges setting interest at 5 percent. A Salt creek dam at the falls would back two miles of water, three to four feet deep at the North Oak street ford. The pumping station may be near the Rock Island station in Johnson's pasture, with work starting once bonds are issued.

Fourth at Farmer celebrates independence with joint picnic

The Masons and Woodmen of Farmer held a July Fourth event with a joint picnic and officer installation. Jno. C. Kay of Graham addressed the Masons and Judge Geo. H. McLaren spoke for the Woodmen. About 2,000 attended. The dinner was superb and arrangements were satisfactory. Music by the Farmer band. Many Graham residents joined the celebration.

Eliasville Holds Monthly Trade Day Starting June 17

Eliasville announces a monthly Trade Day on the third Monday each month beginning June 17. Citizens are invited to buy sell or trade and to bring their stock for exchange and sale during the event.

Olney Townsite Depot Move Sparks Public Concern

Railway surveyors have located a depot about three quarters of a mile north of Olney on a hundred acre land grant. Plans show a town laid out with a public square and business district, potentially moving the town. Local merchants fear losses from relocation and worry railway landowners will push land values higher to benefit the project, a common pattern in railway town development.
