Wichita Falls Judge Denies Bond Reduction in Dozier Case
Judge W N Bonner refused to reduce Fuller Dozier’s 20000 bond. Dozier, convicted of killing Tom Fitzgerald last year for 30 years, had his case reversed by the court of appeals. Sheriff Wallace returned him to the local jail after transfer from Wichita Falls.

Resignation of Local Baptist Pastor Accepted
Rev. J. R. Reynolds tendered his resignation as pastor of the First Baptist Church at morning services last Sunday. It will take effect March 1 and was accepted by the church in regular conference. He will take the pastorate in Oklahoma, leaving after one year here and leaving many friends.

Hogs Prohibited by City Council Suspension
City council suspends the hog keeping ordinance until January 1919 after a petition signed by a majority of voters. No family may keep more than one hog, and the pen must be at least 15 by 15 feet. The action follows a petition asking the ordinance be set aside for now.

Granddaughter of W. 8. McJimsey Dies in Amarillo
Gretchen Ringgenberg four years old died in Amarillo from scarlet fever after two weeks of illness. She was the granddaughter of W. 8. McJimsey and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Ringgenberg, to be buried in Amarillo. Her grandfather had arrived Tuesday morning. The boy Lester also ill but improving.

Campfire Girls Entertain Cadets At Violet Grounds
On a Saturday the Tonkaway and Shawnee Campfire Girls hosted the High School Cadets at the violet grounds. The event featured an afternoon drill including guards picket and firing squad as well as a 'prisoner' shooting demonstration. Kodaking covered the activities and at five o clock a spread with bread pickles cakes and fruit was served to all attendees including Mr Hightower Dr and Mrs Duncan.

F H Stafford a former resident died at his Comanche Texas home last Sunday morning Funeral services were held at R G Grahams residence conducted by Rev G W Black Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery with Masons assisting He built the Graham Hotel now the Dolman House and is survived by two daughters Miss Janie Stafford of Comanche and Mrs L G Miller of Dallas Both daughters attended the funeral and many friends expressed sympathy.

Death of Adolphus Cook Seven-Year-Old Son of County Treasurer
Adolphus Cook died of heart leakage at his family residence last Thursday evening at 8 o clock. He was buried Friday at Oak Grove cemetery at 3 o'clock, funeral services led by Reverend A W Franklin and Reverend J W Mayne of the Methodist church. A large crowd attended the bitterly cold funeral reflecting the high esteem in which the child and his parents are held by the community.

Poll Taxes Paid Indicate County Voting Strength
Tax records show 2350 poll taxes paid before February 1 with 18 exemptions, maintaining voting strength near last election. Last year 2000 poll taxes and 17 exemptions were issued, while many eligible youths have left the area.
Fire Damages Limited. Bower Burned Hand
A noon Saturday blaze from a defective flue at the home of Bismark Bower was extinguished by firefighters with little damage to buildings or furniture. Bower sustained a painful burn on the left hand and was unable to work for several days.

Isaiah Franklin Porter Dies at Home Near Farmer
Isaiah Franklin Porter died Sunday night January 27 near ten at his home near Farmer. Born August 23 1560 near Meridian Mississippi he married Agnes Bagley about thirty six years ago and had five children. He was a Baptist layman and Young county commissioner for about eighteen months. He is survived by his wife five children and many friends and relatives. Burial occurred Wednesday January 30 at his home with services by Rev J B Riddle and a Woodmen graveside tribute.
