Mrs Georgia Briscoe Dies After Pneumonia Battle

Mrs Georgia Briscoe died of acute pneumonia at the county farm last Monday and was buried in Oak Grove cemetery Tuesday morning. A trained nurse attended her but the disease prevailed. She leaves a husband and four children who will leave for Oklahoma in the morning.

Tax receipts and exemptions issued before closing

Groves issued two thousand poll tax receipts and seventeen exemption certificates before closing last night. Officials estimate this maintains near normal voting strength for the year, reflecting standard turnout expectations.

Automobile Accident Near Newcastle Leaves Driver Hurt

A. C. Bentley of New Castle lost control on Bowers Hill when the steering wheel failed last Monday. His car rolled over pinning him beneath, breaking two ribs and fracturing two more along with minor bruises. Joe DeLong, also of Newcastle, escaped with scrapes. Bentley was aided by the roadside and later returned home. authorities note no further injuries.

Baptists Call Pastor For City Church

At a conference last night the First Baptist church voted Rev. J. R. Reynolds of Richmond Kentucky as pastor. Reynolds accepted the call and left for home to prepare to move here, planning to return to Graham in about thirty days to begin his duties. He is described as highly capable with an engaging presence and eloquence.

Lemley and Turner Marriage in Mount Pleasant Community

R J Lemley and Miss Flora Turner, prominent Mount Pleasant youths, were married yesterday evening at 3 at the residence of Eld J H Fisher one mile west officiated by Rev Fisher. The Leader joins friends in wishing a long and happy life.

Fry Trial Hearing Date Moved to February 20

The Fry case hearing in Wichita has been rescheduled from February 12 to February 20 due to court workload and Judge Scurry's disqualification from serving in this case. The change shifts the trial date to the later weekday and updates the schedule in the weekly docket.

Barn Fire Destroys Rutherford Property North of Town

A barn owned by Mrs. Fannie Rutherford burned to the ground Sunday night along with two automobiles hay corn and other feed stuffs. The origin of the fire is unknown and insurance status could not be determined.
