Dr. R A Duncan organizes Company A of Graham High School boys from sixth to eleventh grades for drill on the old school grounds in east Graham. A second company, to be known as Company B, will form January 2 for fourth to eleventh graders four and a half to five feet tall.

Red Cross Plans County Campaign For 3474 Members
The Red Cross Executive committee met in the Red Cross hall on Tuesday afternoon to perfect plans for a county campaign targeting 3474 members. County chairman A W Kay outlined the effort with a short talk by Rev Head of Otney and Rev Smith of Graham. schools and churches urged to support, with memberships priced 25 cents for under fourteen and 1.00 for older members. Banners with candles will be placed in member homes on Christmas night to honor soldiers. local residents attending included Rev J Wead and several others.

Winter Weather Grips Local Area With Cold Spell
Since last Friday noon this section has endured real winter weather. Saturday morning the thermometer read ten above zero and except Sunday the cold has persisted each morning. Yesterday brought a brief warmer spell but a fresh northerly wind after dark produced the coldest period of the season.

Mare and horse stolen near Dry Creek Tuesday night
A brown mare about 15 hands and a brown horse of similar height with saddle marks and a large branded H bar on the ankle were stolen near Dry Creek Tuesday night. A liberal reward is offered by the sheriff for information.

Graham schools lose principal Freeman to Army enlistment
Prof Allen M Freeman principal of the Graham schools for five years tendered his resignation to enlist in the army and left Saturday morning. He was a popular teacher and leaves with the best wishes of the community. Rev J E Evans will fill his post until a new teacher is secured.

Fatal Car Wreck Near Caddo Kills Five Participants
Five men in a Buick returning from Fort Worth perished or suffered grave injuries when dark conditions caused a bridge approach to be missed and the car to plunge into a creek. Ben Watkins was instantly killed. Slim Estes and Og Martin died from injuries. Henry McCluskey was unconscious after the crash and survived initial hours. Martin suffered severe burns and remains critical. The group’s bodies were later buried, leaving grieving families.

Red Cross Benefit Show Delights Packed Audience
A Red Cross entertainment postponed from Friday drew a full house last Tuesday and proved highly successful. Mrs E Mab directed the program with costumes and songs by young participants, and Miss Mary Ellen Urkett played piano. Proceeds totaled 107.00 with net funds to aid the local Red Cross. upcoming Olney Presbyterian C E program features Here Am I Send Me and a series of songs and talks.
