Army Chow Line by Legion Boys a Huge Success
An unusual Graham event last Thursday featured the American Legion serving an army chow to the Daughters of the Confederacy and Legion spouses. Sam Goldwater, Richard Taylor, and J R Ramsey led the culinary effort, feeding nearly 200 people with generous melons donated by Dr. Gant. State Senator Burkett spoke on Americanism, as plans grow for a large Veterans Day celebration with the High School Band providing music.

First Encampment of County Clubs a Great Success

Watermelons on Display from Young County Farm at Bank
Large watermelons grown by R D Mote on Uncle Pink Brooks farm west of Graham were shown at First National Bank this week. The editor learned they are Young County melons, not Parker County, with one fruit at about 80 pounds. The Triumph variety produced the big round melons. Look for Young County products at the County Fair November 8-10.
