Fire at Andrews oil field hotel kills two
A blaze at the Brewer Hotel in the Andrews oil field Archer County last Saturday morning killed Jim Furry 31 a dresser and fatally burned Ed Parkhurst who died the next day while several other workers were injured. The frame hotel housed about forty rooms and was largely occupied by oil field workers some escaping in night clothes. The origin is unknown. Parkhurst died in Archer City after being treated at nearby camps and physicians. Picks survived and returned to field work. Furry a Mason and Elks member belonged to a prominent family. his body was sent to West Virginia.

R Jeffery Seriously Injured by Horse at Ingleside Ranch
R Jeffery was seriously injured when a horse tangled a hind foot in a wire after he rode over it to move a threshing machine. He was dismounted as the horse jumped and struck him, breaking two ribs. Family and doctor brought him home that night and he is resting well. The note also covers local band concerts and Graham School notes praising the area's facilities and urging visits to assess schooling.

Sunday School Attendance and Offerings Report
On Sunday July 28 the Methodists led with 187 in attendance and 4 new pupils, offering 4.35 dollars. Baptists had 139 with an offering of 29.91 dollars, Christians 128 with 3.18 dollars, and Presbyterians 121 with 4.57 dollars. Poor summer travel reduced totals as Rev Sims filled the Baptist pulpit in place of the absent pastor. J C Hindman, injured by a heifer last week, is only little improved.

Local election results and church notes from Graham
Last Saturday's primary election delayed full county figures. Governor Colquitt won re election by a large majority and Morris Sheppard led U S Senate with about twenty five thousand. County results saw Lind sey defeated by B W King for Superintendent, Simpson beat Wood for representative, Fry over Stinson for County Judge, Marshall over Arnold for County Attorney, Brown reelected Sheriff, Hinson edged Wood for Tax Assessor, other officials unopposed. Also noted were obituaries for P C West of South Bend and a report on Rev Gaines B Hall's successful church meeting at Conner Creek with new members and reorganization details.
