Cyclone destroys Olney Country homes in sweeping storm
A cyclone swept through Olney County last Sunday evening killing Mrs. Martin and destroying numerous homes and outbuildings. The storm damaged or wiped out houses at Proffitt, Padgett, Furr, Hill, Brown, Bloodworth, Leberman, Kunkle, Gray and Cemetery Hill, with extensive property losses and one fatality. An automobile was hurled by the wind but the driver escaped unharmed. Local officials note widespread destruction and ongoing development reports from C F Colcord and Sidney Colcord.

Cattle Die in Town Amid Cause Debates

General Rain Breaks Drouth Across West Texas
A broad rain drenched west Texas last Saturday easing a dire drought that forced mass eastward displacement and livestock losses. While not enough to end the drought, it improves soil moisture for spring planting and raises hope for a bountiful season in Young County and surrounding areas. A heavy rain with hail also fell Tuesday evening, causing no reported damage.

Mrs Goode Dies In South Bend Home
Mrs W M Goode Sr wife of the late Rev W M Goode died at the home of her son W M Goode Jr in South Bend last Saturday. Her remains were laid beside her husband in Oak Grove cemetery Sunday evening at 4 o clock. She had lived in South Bend since the early days of the country and was a devout Christian lady. She leaves several grown children.
