T. G. Black reports a proposed Fort Worth to Roswell highway with a planned meeting of Throckmorton and Graham Commercial clubs to discuss building. A week ago the road was expected to Graham, now news says it may reach Poolville soon, about forty miles from Fort Worth.
The Baptist Fifth Sunday Meeting at Loving last weekend drew many Graham Baptists and generated strong interest. The program was published and carried, with attendees reporting a very successful gathering. The next meeting will be hosted by Indian Mound Baptist Church.
A Tom Ball Club formed last Saturday evening with D. D. Casenbary chosen precinct chairman and W. T. Finch N. A. Hudson and P. K. Deats named to the finance committee. Members pledged to support Tom Ball for governor.
J L Jordan R F and George Griffin of Jean visited Graham yesterday as business guests. They took advantage of a clubbing offer with Farm and Ranch and Holland's during their stay.
The Dont Worries group met at Mrs T E Matthews home hosted by her mother Mrs J T Cunningham. A large number attended despite illnesses and many crochet items were shown by each guest with work in progress. Grap juice and two cake varieties were served to members and invited guests including Mesdames Smith W Johnson Evans Mabry Cornish Thomas and Widmayer.
The Methodist church reports a lively Sunday with a welcoming crowd and friendly attendance. Solos by Miss Longino and Mr. Neal were well received as many visitors were thanked and urged to return. Caution on widespread childhood illness is noted with no serious cases reported locally.
Annie Leola Costello nine died of diphtheria at home in Samb Valley Palo Pinto county on March 26. Burial followed the next day at Dark Valley cemetery. The Leader joins friends in extending sympathy.
Miss Sadie Orrell died at the family home in West Graham last night at 8 30 and will be buried in Oak Grove Cemetery at 4 this evening. She had pellagra for four years and eight or nine weeks of intense suffering. The sorrowing father mother brothers and sisters who stood at the bedside are extended sincere sympathy.
Four cars of machinery for the new ice plant arrived last week and are being installed this week. Two more cars are en route and expected soon, paving the way for completion of the new paint and readiness for ice production. The plant uses up-to-date patterns to serve the city, with ice shipped while the facility nears operation. The first car arrived Tuesday as the new Ice Wagon began service last week.
Mrs. A. P. Hogue is recovering from a severe attack of lagrippe. She is receiving care and is reported improving.
