Fourth Of Six Escaped Prisoners Returned To Jail
A fourth of six convicts who fled from the Pliny prison road camp in Putnam county Sunday was jailed in Charleston. Identified as John Willie Hill Handley, he was sentenced in 1946 for armed robbery. He wore prison-type clothing when nabbed by St. Albans police on U S Route 60. He said he had left another escapee in the woods at St. Albans. Three others, recaptured in a gun battle at Marietta Ohio, were held in Mason county jail at Pt. Pleasant on auto theft charges.
