One Killed Four Injured In Car Plunge Into Stream
A car plunged from a bridge into a stream near Enterprize six miles south of Bridgeport at midnight. Charles Davis Hughes, 21, of Enterprise, died. Four others, Patricia Manson, 17, Janet Manson, 14, Dallas Barrett, 21, Ashton Robey, 17, Doris Monday, 21, were hospitalized with severe injuries. Barrett listed in critical condition with burns and possible skull fracture. others had fractures and burns. The car hit a bridge abutment, broke the guardrail, and burst into flames after plunging 12 feet into the stream bed. Residents found occupants unconscious and rescued them.
