U S Steel Corp said it received a letter from John L Lewis president of the United Mine Workers offering to meet on a new coal contract. The message was received by Harry Moses president of H Frick Coke Co, a steel subsidiary. Lewis has arranged to meet Southern Coal Mine Operators May 25 in Bluefield West Virginia.
