Pasadena report says Larry K Page four was revived after doctors gave artificial respiration and a heart stimulant when he stopped breathing for 10 minutes following a Saturday car strike. Physicians cite extreme shock and fat embolism from bone marrow as causes. Team kept him immobilized for safe x rays.
CELLE Germany pilots celebrate ending the Berlin blockade as a wartime victory. They advocate a VE Day to honor the airlift effort, arguing the victory rivals Europe and Japan in significance. Lt Truman Lucas of Indianapolis and Corp Joseph Howard of Taunton support a holiday to mark the success.
The remains of 23 officers and enlisted men killed when two B 29s collided over Japan in 1945 were reburied today in a common grave at Arlington National Cemetery. An army spokesman called it one of the largest mass burials there since World War I, with full military honors accorded.
Senator Byrd of Virginia and allies vowed to resist a purge in Congress sparked by a reported remark by President Truman about too many Byrds in the legislature. Byrd said he would fight for spending and stay in place if the president moves against him.

Roanoke police use every available resource to hunt a killer after 16 year old Dana Marie Weaver was found beaten to death in the kitchen of Christ Episcopal Church. Investigators report the attack occurred Sunday night during a church youth picnic and question Virginia Tech students who last saw her.
At one minute past midnight Thursday Berlin will end the blockade when transport, trade and communication services resume in the Allied zones. Gen V I Chuikov and Western powers order sixteen freight trains daily and highways to reopen. Soviets say travel permits may be required and bag searches will not be conducted. mail service will also resume.

Rep. A Arends claimed President Truman hinted at a third term by linking patronage to purge in a House speech. He cited Byrd of West Virginia and Southern Democrats, arguing the president plans 1952 race while Byrd’s 1953 term looms and patronage threats could curb dissent.

Twenty five years have passed since J Edgar Hoover took the helm of the FBI as a modest agency. It has grown from 657 to 9500 employees and a national crime lab and academy expanded. Hoover, once slender, is now huskier while the bureau diversifies into counterintelligence against communism and interstate crime.
Charleston report says the State Teacher Retirement board approved increased pensions for 1,400 retired teachers to take effect July 1 under the 1949 act. Executive Secretary R B Hyde noted allocations would rise 20 to 50 percent and be funded by the state. The board also approved continued employment of eight Monongalia teachers and two Randolph county teachers over 65, with retirement at 65 mandatory unless approved.
In Boulder Colorado a jury convicted Joe Walker in the rape slaying of Theresa Foster. The verdict of second degree murder carries a 10 to life prison sentence. The jury prayed for divine guidance before deliberations and after the verdict the foreman read the prayer aloud. Judge Bradfield granted a 30 day window for a new trial and delayed sentencing.
A Hankow dispatch reports the defense battle began yesterday as 600 Communists pushed into Liangkulow 20 miles north of Hankow. The agency says 100 casualties occurred before they were reinforced, with a regional peace movement in full swing and residents forming a security maintaining committee. Nationalist counter actions were reported near Kunshan and Tai chang with 200 Communist casualties claimed.
Four eighth grade girls earned Golden Horseshoe pins after high scoring tests. Joyce Ann Cuppett of Grafton Junior High led with 123 points, closely followed by Barbara Jean Cole of Fleming Junior High with 122. Winners include Patricia Ann Wolfe of Bleville and Phyllis Hall of Garrison, with tests administered by Ronan Knotts.
Two prosecution witnesses placed Herman Dennis Jr. near the jade shop where Ruth Farnsworth was attacked and fatally beaten on Guam. Francis Moylan testified he flashed jeep headlights across the road at 7 60 pm on Dec 11 while carrying $4500. James Robert MacDonald said he gave Dennis a ride about 75 minutes after lights went out. A Navy worker noted Dennis rejected segregation overseas.
Earl Lawrence Fanning of Morgantown arrested by Corporal G F Randall for driving without a license. The 1934 Plymouth two door sedan was involved. He was ordered to appear in Magistrate Ona C Jefferys court on May 14 after arrest on Route 119.
A class of 37 persons passed driver examinations conducted by Corporal G F Randall and State Trooper EB L Duckworth, described as the largest on record in the local State Police office in recent years. Two failed and two renewing their operator cards. Stout Woodbridge Ford of Route 1 Philippi is scheduled to appear in Magist rate Ona C Jefferys court on May 21. He was arrested by Corporal G F Randay for a traffic offense on U S Route 50 near Pruntytown while driving a 1949 Ford.
