James H. Menear aged 63 died suddenly of a heart ailment in Kingwood on May 8. A Preston county school teacher for thirty years, he taught at Ir ona school on the day of his death. From 1903 to 1909 he edited the school paper and instructed printing at West Virginia Industrial School for Boys at Pruntytown before returning to Preston county schools.

Intruder Stabs Miner in Cabin Creek Murder Motive Blamed

State Police Sergeant Stillman arrested Clark Neal 25 of Cabin Creek on murder charges with robbery listed as the motive. Youth Denies Slaying Two Salesmen in Arizona Case
In Knoxville on May 8 22 year old Robert M Burgunder Jr a college student denied guilt in the killings of Phoenix Arizona salesmen Jack Peterson 36 and Ellis M Koury 25. He said he would face the music alone and resisted parental aid as jail guards watched through the night amid fear of self harm before Arizona officers could transport him to Phoenix. Burgunder son of a former county attorney in Seattle and a Washington parolee was charged by Phoenix County Attorney Richard F Harless who cited a latent violent nature as motive. Elkins Man 104 Dies at Randolph Infirmary
George Bellah aged 104 died of a heart attack today at the Sally Hoover farm near Beverly where he was a Public Assistance ward. Born February 25 1835 in Lithuania he came to the United States in 1875 and worked in Randolph County coal mines until retirement. He could not prove naturalization and lacked an old age pension. He will be buried beside his widow in an Elkins cemetery.
