Civil War Drummer Boy Nimishi Nuzum Dies in Fairmont
Nimishi Nuzum 85 a Harrison county native and Civil War drummer boy died at his Fairmont home. Funeral services scheduled for Sunday. He enlisted at age 11 and served in West Virginia home guards under Captain Napoleon Altop. His widow Delia Powell Nuzum is critically ill at a daughter’s home in Fairmont.

Missing Aide of Political Boss Found Dead
The body of Edward L. Schneider, 46, aide to boss Thomas J. Pendergast, was recovered from the Missouri River near Kansas City. His car, carrying two death by own action notes, was found earlier on a river bridge. Schneider was identified by a signet ring. He had testified to a federal grand jury the day before Pendergast was indicted on income tax evasion charges. Schneider served as secretary treasurer of seven Pendergast enterprises and vanished Monday as Pendergast faced court.

Miners Contract Extended Amid Negotiations

Miners Register for Jobless Payments in Bluefield
About 2000 miners from Matoaka McComas and Mercer County coal towns gathered at Bluefield state employment service to register for unemployment pay.
