Call Additional Troopers To Preston County Today
Three men were arrested and additional state police were called to duty today as sheriff Hobart Spindler said feel ing is running high here against the visit of roving pickets to Preston county. All mines were closed after thirty five car loads of pickets appeared in Kingwood early today. The three men arrested are charged with conspiracy to commit violence on a mine owner and are held in jail pending a preliminary hearing. Others are to be arrested on warrants already issued. The charges grew out of trouble yesterday at the Hartman Coal Company where Raymond Hartman was beaten during a melee with the pickets. Four state troopers from nearby posts were sent here for duty at his request. He said fifty citizens have volunteered to serve as special deputies if the trouble flares. Those arrested are Frank Trackomovich, 35, of Cascade, Albert Soccori, 23, and Mike Angelo, 60, both of Mason town. The warrants were sworn out by Hartman. Prosecuting Attorney R. Doyne Halbritter said Raymond Hartman, owner of the Hartman strip, and an employee were rather badly hurt when a motorcade of pickets descended on the mine. Halbritter said a shot was fired at Hartman’s son. He expected the strip operations in Preston to continue today. When asked if he planned to provide protection for them he answered only Every effort will be made to enforce the law.

Comic Tri State For Clues In Wheeling Case
