A federal investigator for the Securities and Exchange Commission is held as a federal prisoner in New York, accused by a dealer of being the principal in a $27,500 bribery plot. William A Raybell, 41, of Pelham, N Y, allegedly accepted money to influence the commission's pending case. Edward Jones, who helped arrest Raybell, said the deal aimed to fix actions and tip off on documentary testimony. Local authorities waived prosecution in favor of the federal case as the investigation continues.
In Jasper Indiana two youths aged 14 and 17 from Huntington West Virginia were sentenced to life at an Indiana reform school for abducting Dubois County Sheriff Edward Luegers after stealing a car. They had pleaded guilty and the sheriff stated they could be re formed with a tanning.
Labor fights spread across the United States with New England seeing 2800 of 3375 Uxbridge Worsted workers strike. The International Seamen's Union calls a wage strike on oil tankers, aiming for boosts from 52 to 62.50 dollars monthly as four tankers are tied up.

In Clarksburg on June 24 state leaders in road building health labor public works and conservation met to plan industrial development for the upper Monongahela Valley. Ten counties Barbour Harrison Lewis Marion Monongalia Preston Upshur Randolph Tucker and Taylor cooperated to create a formal association with a drafted constitution and by-laws. Officers will be elected at the session starting at 2 30 p m called by acting chairman C E Smith. Continued on page 4.

Wheeling on June 24, Alex Carey a 37 year old cemetery worker is to be arraigned on murder charges once he recovers from gunshot wounds. Assistant Prosecutor W Day Fitzsimmons claims Carey killed Mrs Mildred Wollhardt a 38 year old divorcee and attempted suicide. Carey remains in a hospital near the heart wound but expected to recover.

Observers doubt an agreement will be reached before next Sunday midnight when current contracts expire, with past failures tied to uncertainty over the Guffey coal stabilization bill and a proposed “little NRA” for bituminous coal.

President Albert G Burns of Oakland said the nuts generate ideas that become inventions as the congress runs through Friday.
In Taylor county circuit court Judge H. W. Dent presided as arguments by defense attorney Francis L. Warder and prosecutor Talbott opened the fight to reopen the cafe and rooming house now under a temporary injunction. Defendants Mr and Mrs Barnes and Clint Dalton were represented as the state’s case was summarized by Prosecuting Attorney J C Holt. The hearing, focusing on constitutional precedents, was expected to continue in the afternoon.

The boys Basilum Ray Jr and Maurice Sheridan were accused of abducting the sheriff after his arrest of them for possession of a stolen car and illegal liquor in the vehicle.
Earl Porter is shot to death in a feud torn Clay County Kentucky marking the third fatal shooting in a week. The attack follows the killings of James Cupp and Bobbie Baker as guardsmen reportedly contemplate intervention amid ambush gunfire at a funeral procession in the feud plagued town.
