Coal To Reign Again As King Of West Virginia Economy
Huntington speaker Rolla D Campbell of Island Creek Coal Co. predicts coal will dominate the energy market for 25 years and fuel a broader industrial growth along the Ohio and Kanawha valleys. He says coal gas for electricity will quadruple in 25 years and atomic energy will not overtake coal soon. Campbell envisions coal pipelines and revived railroad coal traffic, with Europe and South America boosting demand and Canada remaining strong.
