Lone Robber Holds Up Express Train For $50,000
A lone youth described as about 15 to 18 years old held up an express messenger on a Chicago to Buffalo train between Adrian and Mussfield. He forced the messenger at gunpoint to unlock bags, grabbed a currency shipment worth about 50 000 dollars, and escaped in a waiting wire car. A bag containing around 59 000 in small denomination bills was hurled from the car as the train slowed. Officials say access to the car was not routine and credit restrictions were in place for safe auditing. The robber was tall about five ten, weighed roughly 160 pounds, dressed in a blue suit with a light felt hat. Police noted the loss may be smaller than initially reported.
