Britain Aims to Pull Russia Into Western Germany
London June 9 Foreign Secretary Bevin told the House of Commons Britain plans to bring Russia into western Germany with occupation and international controls of the Ruhr Valley for an indefinite period. The six nation recommendations by the US Britain France and Benelux were made public Monday. Moscow radio warned the plan makes western Germany a permanent Anglo American military base. Russians urged Germans to resist, claiming the Ruhr is being taken away. Officials had expected a three power pact soon to resume reparations from western Germany to Russia. Bevin stressed acceptance of the six nation plan does not end hope for German unity on proper principles.
